A proud day in Brussels

15 May

Presumed Heteroseksual (with KS to avoid being blacklisted by your provider)

Some picture impressions of the Belgian Pride – 35000 people partying in the streets (even though the parade itself is rather pathetic and un-creative). They changed the name from Gay and Lesbian Pride to Belgian pride – because ‘everybody’ should be proud to be what they are…

  • Hm, where is that going to end up…

Volcanic Travel Woes

20 Apr

A few days before i was scheduled for Thailand

The EU conference wasn’t badly organised enough as it was, the Icelanders decided to add a little challenge for the organisers and participants: a beauuuutiful ash cloud that made all travelling virtually impossible. I was grinning a bit with the panic of the people. I was staying on a few days with friends anyway. But then my flight got also cancelled – and I joined all the European chicken running around without head…

  • An Odyssey journey to get back home – but at least I arrived home…
  • Cuz I was scheduled to go to Thailand – and that was an appointment not to miss!
  • Even if that meant doing the crazy things I did.

Struggling with work

A more relaxed way of working

One of the conclusions of my Asia trip(s) and of the job coaching sessions I did, was to take another step in my professional life (and hopefully the developments on the personal level would follow). I thought to take things easier, work less, enjoy life more.

Wings for your Ideas

Judging from the screaming women in labour do, giving birth isn’t easy. Similarly, setting up a company (in Belgium) is quite a laborious process too. The ideas were there, we even brainstormed a name for my company on the beach in Gran Canaria, but then the formalities started. They created these ‘one-stop-shop’ enterprise centres, where according to the info leaflets you can set up a new company in 3 days. Maybe true, if it weren’t that you had to fight hard to even get an appointment with them (2-3 weeks later). And they can indeed do all the steps of founding a company for you, if you pay them money you haven’t even earned yet.

Help – Post travel depression!

29 Dec

I vote for hot weather

I’ve just been a day in Brussels and I’m depressed already. Where are all the smiling faces ;-) ? And this weather, isn’t it beyond acceptable?! The EU should make a directive against miserably grey & wet weather. That would be a useful ruling for a change (hehe). Cuz, what do I do now with all my Thai boy-shorts & slim-fit T-shirts?

I need to really control my urges here, as everything is about 3-5 times more expensive than ‘in my second home’ over there in Boracay. If I’d live the same lifestyle in Brussels I’d be bankrupt in about 3 minutes (well, 3 days)…

  • Life’s not easy after travelling in Asia
  • Weeeeeeeehhh – I wanna go back!

Working hard, (soon) traveling hard

23 Oct
  • I’m writing a few publications (big time), in quite drastic conditions: a kitchen table, a hard chair and an office lamp stuck to a cupboard because no lamps on the ceiling yet (see pics below)
  • At the same time I’m moving house (again) from the cramped windowless shoe box in Louise to a huge room, with window this time but without furniture, nor curtains… (and lots of opposite neighbours). Thank buddha for cardboard boxes (see pics below).
  • And I’m organising some ‘serious’ traveling before I start working at SALTO again in January (that will be tough!). But first 2 weeks of relaxing in Gran Canaria to be rested for another month of a concentrated sequal to my Asia trip: Philippines, Cambodia & christmas shopping in Bangkok ;-)

…so that’s why I’m a bit offline… Soon back with more stories.
