Are you Blue or Yellow?

Find out what colour you are (colours can vary, letters not)

Find out what colour you are (colours can vary, letters not)

No I’m not referring to you being a Belgian smurf or an Asian (who by the way are more like café au lait than yellow from what I’ve seen). There’s some companies earning big bucks with testing what colour people are.

  • Maybe you’re interested to find out what colour you are?
  • And what those colours mean and which colours you are compatible with.
  • It’s like horoscope: same same but different, more psychologically sound (let’s hope).

10 reasons why gay marriage is wrong…

Gay marriage in the US* is wrong! (*or substitute by any other country)

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven’t adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans. Continue reading

Making my Home at Home

It's in the little things you notice that someone else is living in your appartment

It's in the little things you notice that someone else is living in your appartment (indeed, the pink shoes are NOT mine ;-)

When I arrived back to Brussels after a month in laid-back Portugal, I got a city-shock. I had forgotten there were so many people, traffic, pollution, noise, etc. I think I’m ready to move out of the city – but where to? As a test I’m setting up camp at my mum’s place in the countryside, because I rented out my apartment in Brussels for the duration of my sabbatical year. And then we’ll have a look in which quaint village there’ houses for sale.

How old is not young?

A thirty something guy

A thirty something guy

What age does the midlife crisis kick in normally? Maybe it is happening to me as we speak… I already wrote some posts about getting old(er) and now again one. I can feel the time ticking: I feel it in my bones, I notice it in the strength of my glasses (they’re gonna be back soon ;-( and I definitely don’t belong in a dance party anymore.

  • Maybe part of becoming old(er) is also complaining about getting old(er) ?

Gran Canaria – Prep for Asia?

Maspalomas Dunes Gran Canaria

Maspalomas Dunes Gran Canaria

After a conference for work in Santa Cruz de la Palma (one of the Canary Islands), I ceased the occasion to stay on a week in the neighbouring island of Gran Canaria. One of my favourite holiday destinations: sun, sea, swimming pool, sipping cocktails, succulent and syeap meals – and some other things beginning with S ;-)

A friend of mine shuttled in for the occasion, we rented a little apartment for the week and the rest happened automatically as usual – it is like being ‘at home’ because we know the place so well, have our habits, the usual places to go – no strain, no pain…

It was a good preparation for Asia – not only because I had lots of time to read my guidebooks lying on the beach or at the pool. It was also a test to see how I’d react to traveling and meeting people. The results were not particularly brilliant… at first. It has to be said that Playa del Ingles is a gay holiday destination, so quite normal that people ‘meet’ (or was it ‘meat’). And with Asia in my head, all of a sudden an Asian guy also appeared on my retina. So what’s the next steps? I did smile to him, when he was leaving the beach I waved goodbye, etc – but actually start talking – noooooo way… (why am I so shy? Anyone any solutions, exercises, proposals?)
