I had the pleasure to travel with a good friend of mine, who for one reason or another finds his way to luxury… I just follow. But during this (and previous) trips I had the chance to stay in some quite special places – unaffordable in Belgium, but quite accessible here (even for a self-employed copywriter who just finished his last contract) – Pics below.
Siem Reap, Cambodia – Golden Banana
- Bungalows around a lush garden – pool surrounded by Frangipani – social project giving gay staff an education in hotellerie – 25 US$/18€ night
Bangkok, Thailand – iResidence Silom
- Modern hotel (incompetent but friendly staff) – just next to Chong Nonsi skytrain station – 10th floor pool swimming between skyscrapers – generous breakfast buffet – 60 US$/44€ night
Patong beach, Phuket – The Nap Patong
- Divine design hotel (that’s the kind of bathroom I want) – balcony with view of pool – sooo many nice things at breakfast, too much to taste everything – 80 €/59€ night
Ubud, Bali – Sri Ratih Cottages
- Cottages next to the rice fields – not too much luxury, except they upgraded us to the family room since that was the only twin room left – exotic garden with pool – lovely Balinese style outside bathroom – 60 US$/44€ night
Seminyak, Bali – Annora Villa
- going all the way: Villa with open living room with view on the pool – bathtub filled with flower petals upon arrival – as good as private pool (few other guests) – loungy gazebo – luxury breakfast brought to the room – welcome massage – surprise snack in the afternoon – 130 US$/95€ night
Sigh – and now back to Belgium – where everything will be three times more expensive…
.
- Golden Banana, Siem Reap – my favourite place in Cambodia

Hello there!, i am traveling to Cambodia next March, i enjoy all your pictures from all the different places.im thinking about staying at the Manor House in Phom Penh, what do u think about that place?..my name is Pag…thanks
Manor House is a little peaceful haven in the middle of hustle and bustle of Phnom Pehn. It is great to have a nicely designed luxurious place with a pool to relax and western breakfast, wifi everywhere, and all info you need to know about the gay scene. But you also pay for it… If you prefer saving money to bathing in luxury, you can find places for half price or less (without a pool). My favourite was happiness guesthouse (room with balcony and fridge) near Psar Thmey (central market), or there is Blue Lime http://www.bluelime.asia (that i hear lots about but it was always full when i tried to stay there) – bigger list at http://www.canbypublications.com/phnompenh/pphotels.htm – I also stayed in Goldie Boutique Hotel ones (opposite very nice Khmer restaurant)…
